As a retailer with my own website I really wonder when I look at one of the categories that my business may come up in. Pottery & Glass 8.985 listings and this changes as we speak. This is just one category.
I do not dare place my products on a Trade Me store because it would upset the retailers that I supply to far too much.
Trade Me is definitely a one stop shop online. The problem is that the general market perception is that it is a place where you go to trade something at a low price. It will most probably one day chnage this Ethjos but it will take awhile. I personally have purchased many great things on Trade Me, including brands, but they were not new.
While I love Trade Me on a personal level I would not put my Brands there at thsi point. It is an inexpensive way for a small business to reach the masses but it would be concerning that it would damage the brand in New Zealand in the long term and effect retailers. After all new Zealand is a small country. For the time being I will just have to maintain a website especially for my brands, even though I am offering my products at oultet savings.
